A Hebrew word for God’s Spirit is ruach. The word is sometimes translated in the bible as “wind”. Ruach can literally mean “air put into motion by divine breath”.
According to Hebrew tradition, there were two manifestations of the presence of God within the tabernacle: the sound of man breathing, and the sound of curtains expanding, outward and then inward like a man’s lungs. This manifestation became known as the “breath of the Holies” and later emerged into the name of the Holy Spirit.
We are the temple of God. The Holy Spirit is always moving and breathing life into and through us. Breathe in His grace and exhale!
